These paintings examine architectural spaces, both abstract and realistic. Each piece has its own intrinsic logic, which is expressed with the intuitive use of color and lines.
Hanging them on a wall allows the paintings to interact with the space. The loose fabric bridges the gap between the dirty, cluttered studio, revealing the work process, as opposed to the white, sterile exhibition room.
Colors were kept in their natural ‘straight from the tube’ color, which makes them saturated and vibrant. There is a constant play between flatness and volume. Instead of the common method of light and shade, the layers provide a sense of depth, revealing the order in which they were painted.
